The Good: Meet Discover
The Discover tab is one swipe past the Snap Stories page. Currently, there are 11 different channels, including CNN, Comedy Central, Cosmopolitan, Daily Mail, ESPN, Food Network, National Geographic, People, Vice, Yahoo News and Warner Music. There is also a black Snapchat Ghost channel, which will be filled by Snapchat from other content creators not listed above.
These channels are updated daily with a new “edition” much like a magazine or newspaper. When you see a preview that you want to know more about, you just swipe down that takes you to an article. Swiping left brings up the next “story”. The only confusing part is trying to get out of an “edition”. Personally, I keep getting stuck on the last screen not knowing what to do.
The Bad: WE Miss Stalking
In with the new editorial Discover feature, out with stalking people’s top friends on Snapchat. Previously, a person could view the top three users with whom they exchanged messages with the most.
This feature disappeared after the new update, and many users took to social media to complain about loosing the number one stalking feature.
Don’t worry fans, Snapchat CEO Evan Spiegel tweeted after the updated released that the best friends feature will be back soon. Thank goodness we can stalk people again!
The QR Code: Wait, What?
By tapping the ghost icon at the top of the camera screen, it brings you to a page with a funny looking Snapchat logo. This may seem like the normal logo, but each user has a unique ghost/dot combo. This functions like a QR code. If you meet someone and you must find their Snapchat username, just point your camera at his or her personal logo and they will be automatically added to your contacts.
